Chris Cuomo renews contract with NewsNation

Anchor Chris Cuomo agreed to a new multiyear contract with NewsNation on Monday.

Cuomo will continue to host his weeknight show, CUOMO, at 8 p.m. Eastern. The network reported the program increased total viewership by 54% and increased by 28% among adults 25-54.

“Of course I am staying,” Cuomo said in a statement. “Where else but NewsNation can you expose the game instead of being forced to play? Let’s get after it!”

Cuomo returned to prime-time cable news in October 2022 as the host of Cuomo on NewsNation with only 147,000 total viewers, according to cable news ratings at the time. Aside from drawing a low total viewership, Cuomo’s new show appealed to the key 25-54 demographic, with just 8,000 viewers behind the other legacy media outlets.

Previously, Cuomo worked for CNN. He left under allegations that he used his media contacts to find those people accusing his brother, former Gov. Andrew Cuomo, of sexual harassment. Chris Cuomo avoided confirming the allegation in a recent interview.

“Other than worry, regret and living in the past is very poisonous because you can’t change it,” Cuomo told People.

Two weeks before Election Day, Cuomo moderated a town hall on Thursday on behalf of Vice President-elect J.D. Vance. Cuomo has a long reputation for working in the news, covering many presidential cycles.
