Trump adviser who collapsed at gala says he ‘took’ his ‘Biden impression too far’
A campaign adviser to President-elect Donald Trump jokingly compared his fainting episode at a recent Republican gala to an “impression” of President Joe Biden.
While giving a speech at the 112th Annual New York Young Republican Club Gala on Sunday night, Alex Bruesewitz began to slur his words and mumble incoherently before collapsing to the floor.
Bruesewitz gave an update on the “surreal experience” in a post to X on Monday evening.
“Maybe I took my Joe Biden impression just a little too far,” he quipped in a humorous reference to Biden’s frequent gaffes during public events.
Biden most prominently set off a firestorm during the first presidential debate against Trump in June, when he often appeared to lose his train of thought and gave a series of incoherent statements.
After his light-hearted jab at the president Monday, Bruesewitz explained that “all kidding aside,” he was grateful to the medical professionals who gave him “outstanding care” following the gala incident. The 27-year-old, who has authored several books in addition to advising Trump, said he was swiftly administered care after being taken to the emergency room at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital.
Trump reacted to his adviser’s fainting episode by providing assurances “that Alex is going to be fine because he’s a tough son of a gun.”
“There’s no doubt about that,” Trump said Sunday, later calling him “a very special guy.”
