Some people just want to watch the world burn which is exactly what Democrats are doing in the face of multiple rapidly expanding fires burning through Los Angeles neighborhoods.

The city and state’s incompetency, radical DEI agendas, and willingness to put the common smelt fish above fixing its water problems literally put lives and livelihoods in the line of windstorm-fueled fires. The very least the Democrats who run the Golden State and rely on its electoral votes could do to mitigate the disaster they helped create is provide a reasonable response to those whose family members were killed and houses destroyed.

Yet, at every turn of the ongoing tragedy, national and state leftists have completely and totally failed to not only do their duty to the taxpayers who pay their salaries, but also feign an ounce of sympathy about it.

Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass was MIA as the fires began after she jetted off to Africa to watch Ghana’s newest president be inaugurated. A reporter confronted Bass on her return trip about the budget cuts that Los Angeles Fire Chief Kristin Crowley warned in December had “severely limited the department’s capacity to prepare for, train for, and respond to large-scale emergencies, including wildfires.” Bass, however, refused to answer any of his questions or apologize to her constituents.

When she finally addressed the crisis from her mayoral podium in Los Angeles, Bass directed victims of the fires to find “help, emergency information, resources, and shelter” not from her, but “at URL” — presumably a website for which she did not provide the full address.

When asked during a Thursday press conference about the lack of preparation and rapid response to the fires, Bass insisted her primary focus was saving lives and homes, but refused to take any responsibility for her role in the crisis. She also avoided directly answering more budget-cut questions by claiming ” it really did not impact what we have been going through the past few days.”

California Gov. Gavin Newsom, in a similar attempt to wash his hands of the effort to stop the fires, told CNN’s Anderson Cooper that the lack of water in fire hydrants on afflicted blocks is something that “the local folks have gotta figure … out.”

The real kicker came on Wednesday when President Joe Biden, in a joint presser with Newsom, blew past the disaster update to announce his “good news.”

“I’m a great-grandfather as of today,” he said gleefully.

With a map of the devastating fires’ radius behind him, Biden explained that “I’m going to remember this day for a lot of the wrong reasons.”

Dismissing the struggles of the Americans he’s sworn to represent is not unusual for Biden. The Democrat’s indifference toward tragedy was on display when flooding from Hurricane Helene ravaged North Carolina, when deadly fires burned Maui, and when a train carrying chemicals derailed in Ohio.

Ignoring calamity is also not unheard of by California politicians. As Los Angeles burns, the state assembly, at the direction of Newsom, is using its recently convened special legislative session to pad the state Department of Justice’s pockets with millions of dollars designated for picking fights with the Trump administration.

It’s not a stretch to say that Democrats, even when faced with a disaster that threatens the people who repeatedly put them into power, don’t give a damn about their voters or their roles in inducing life-altering crises. For that, they shouldn’t just lose Californians’ respect, they should also lose their jobs.
