Cain’s assessment was in response to The View co-hosts slamming those attacking Newsom’s response to the wildfires, saying that Newsom’s critics are “pointing fingers” at others over who is responsible for the disaster. Cain contended that these co-hosts would be “the first ones to point the finger” to accuse a Republican lawmaker like President-elect Donald Trump or Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) of mismanaging a public disaster.

“And they used the game analogy. I love that because, look, the game’s over,” Cain argued on Fox News’s The Story with Martha MacCallum. “You got the butt kicked. You lost 56-0. Your team got decimated, your players weren’t ready to play, they got crushed, and everyone’s paying the price for your inability to get things right. It’s ridiculous.” 

Cain then suggested some people will always “protect the Democratic side,” which he found absurd given the footage showcasing the damage the wildfires have created, as “there’s nothing to protect” over the leadership.

The actor also dished criticism toward Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass and her “embarrassing” response to the wildfires, specifically for her silence when confronted by a reporter on what she would do to respond to the fires. He expressed hope that voters in California will “wake up” and realize that it is time for “some real, competent people” to be elected.

Cain detailed his move out of California last year, citing how the state’s policies were “just terrible.” He has since moved to Las Vegas, where he said his son is much happier.

Several other celebrities have scrutinized California and Los Angeles’s response to the wildfires, with actor Zachary Levi perplexed over Newsom “clearly” being aware of the threats that wildfires pose to California and not taking the necessary precautions in preparation. Comedian and radio personality Adam Carolla has also predicted that the Democratic Party will lose “a whole lot of votes,” even in “deep blue progressive cities,” in the aftermath of these wildfires.
