House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) sent a letter to President Donald Trump on Saturday inviting him to address a joint session of Congress on March 4.

In the letter, Johnson lauded Trump’s first week in office, which has included many executive orders that were cornerstones of his 2024 campaign. He called it the start of “America’s Golden Age” and praised Trump’s “strong leadership and bold action.”

“Your administration and the 119th Congress working together have the chance to make
these next four years some of the most consequential in our nation’s history. To that end, it is my
distinct honor and great privilege to invite you to address a Joint Session of Congress on
Tuesday, March 4, 2025, in the Chamber of the U.S. House of Representatives, to share your
America First vision for our legislative future,” the House speaker added.

Trump has not yet accepted the invitation.

On Saturday afternoon, the president held a post-inauguration rally in Las Vegas, Nevada, in which he addressed other campaign promises including no taxes on tipped wages. That stop followed visits to North Carolina and California to address the widespread destruction in both states following Hurricane Helene and the wildfires in Los Angeles, respectively.
