Conservatives mock David Hogg pick: DNC ‘learned literally nothing from 2024’
David Hogg, a 24-year-old activist known for his advocacy for gun control following the tragic 2018 Parkland school shooting, was recently elected as the vice chairman of the Democratic national Committee (DNC). His election has sparked significant debate, especially among conservatives, who have mocked the choice, claiming it reflects the Democratic Party’s failure to learn from past electoral mistakes, particularly in light of the 2024 elections. Comments on social media criticized Hogg’s views as “wildly out of step with the American people” and some detractors accused him of exploiting the tragedy of the shooting for personal gain.
Despite the mockery, Hogg has a track record of activism, co-founding the gun control institution March for Our Lives and the group Leaders We Deserve, aimed at supporting progressive candidates. He expressed gratitude for his election and emphasized the need for the DNC to re-engage with the public and address issues that matter to diverse voter groups. Alongside him, Ken Martin was selected to succeed Jaime Harrison as DNC chairman, marking a significant moment for the party as they strategize moving forward.

David Hogg, the progressive activist who rose to fame for his gun control advocacy after the 2018 Parkland, Florida, school shooting, was named as the vice chairman of the Democratic National Committee over the weekend, and conservatives are praising the party’s choice in jest.
“To Announce They’ve Given Up Completely, DNC Selects David Hogg As Vice Chair,” the satirical website Babylon Bee wrote on X.
“Meet the new DNC Vice Chairman, David Hogg. The Democrats have learned literally nothing from 2024. Nothing at all,” a netizen reacted on X.
“DNC Vice Chair David Hogg has some legitimately INSANE views that are wildly out of step with the American people. Good to see that the Democrat Party has learned absolutely nothing,” a conservative commentator reacted on X.
“David Hogg exploited dead children and lied about being a school shooting survivor,” Andrew Pollack, father of daughter Meadow who was one of the 17 murdered victims in the Stoneman Douglas High School shooting in 2018, mocked Hogg’s DNC win. “In other words, he’s a perfect fit for the Dems!”

“David Hogg is likely to keep doing what he does best, insisting that the Second Amendment does not protect an individual’s right to own a firearm, arguing that the National Rifle Association is a terrorist organization, and making ill-informed and hard-left controversial statements on social media,” National Review columnist Jim Geraghty said.
“The new Democrat hero David Hogg has got us trembling in our boots,” podcast host Dave Rubin joked on X.
“Things just keep getting better and better. Democrats never learn from their mistakes,” another person said on social media.
“That’s awesome, 2028 is looking better with each and every passing day!!” a Trump supporter reacted.
The 24-year-old co-founded the gun control organization March for Our Lives and graduated from Harvard in 2023. Following graduation, he co-founded the group Leaders We Deserve, which recruits and trains progressive young candidates to run for public office.
During the DNC meeting over the weekend, Hogg touted his work to help grow the youth vote and his efforts to bring money into the party.
“I’m deeply grateful to the members for their trust and belief in me and I don’t take it lightly,” Hogg wrote on X following this weekend’s election.
“It’s time we stop surrendering, go on offense, and take the fight to Donald Trump,” he added. “We need to show [the public] who we are again, to rid our party of its judgmental attitudes, and do the work to win back every group we lost this year.”
While Hogg is the vice chairman, the party selected Ken Martin, the longtime leader of the state Democratic Party organization in Minnesota, to succeed Jaime Harrison as DNC chairman.
