70% of citizens say Trump doing what he promised on campaign – Washington Examiner

A recent poll indicates that a important majority of U.S. citizens believe President Donald Trump is fulfilling his campaign ⁣promises. Conducted by CBS from February 5-7, the survey revealed that 70% of respondents feel the president is delivering on his commitments. Trump’s early tenure has been marked by a high number of ​executive orders focused on issues such as mass deportation of illegal immigrants, the rollback​ of diversity, equity, and inclusion‌ mandates, and the implementation of tariffs.

64% of those surveyed support the deployment ⁢of troops to the southern border, while 52%⁢ oppose Trump’s initiative to use military bases for detaining individuals pending deportation decisions. Despite concerns about mass detention facilities, a majority (59%) ⁢approve of Trump’s intent to ⁢deport undocumented immigrants.

Regarding tariffs, opinions are mixed: 49% believe the administration is overemphasizing this issue, especially with respect to Mexico, Canada, and China, while 43% ‌feel ⁤the focus is appropriate.Further,45% of participants think the⁤ administration is balancing efforts to ⁣end DEI programs correctly,while 39% believe they are doing too much in this area. ‌Trump’s overall approval rating‍ stands at 53%.


Large majority of citizens say Trump doing what he promised on campaign

A great majority of citizens believe President Donald Trump is delivering upon his campaign promises, according to a new poll.

In his first few weeks in office, Trump has signed a record number of executive orders centered on implementing mass deportations of illegal immigrants, rolling back diversity equity, and inclusion mandates, and implementing tariffs. The CBS survey, conducted between Feb. 5-7 of 2,175 U.S. adults, found that 70% believe the president is doing what he said he would.

Cracking down on illegal immigration was a major part of Trump’s campaign, and the Pentagon has already sent 1,600 active-duty troops to the southern border with plans to send more. The poll revealed that 64% are in favor of Trump sending troops to the southern border.

However, 52% are against Trump’s plan to use military bases as large detention centers to hold people before determining who should be deported. 

Trump promised to deport 10 million Americans, but Immigration and Customs Enforcement can hold just 38,521 migrants.

While the majority of the public isn’t in favor of mass detention centers, 59% say they approve of Trump’s plan to deport immigrants illegally staying in the United States.

When it comes to tariffs, 49% of respondents say that the Trump administration is focusing too much on implementing tariffs on other countries, namely Mexico, Canada, and China; 43% of them said they are focusing the right amount on the task.

Separately, 45% of respondents said the administration is spending the right amount of time on ending DEI programs, compared to 39% saying they’re doing too much.

Trump’s overall approval rating sits at 53%.
