DOGE brought receipts: Leavitt’s list of waste found by Musk and team

The White House is backing Elon Musk, the billionaire entrepreneur and head of the Department of Government Efficiency, with a long list of receipts.

Press secretary Karoline Leavitt criticized complaints that Musk and DOGE have lacked transparency as he and his aides seek to reduce the size of the federal government and the amount of money it spends.

In his and DOGE’s defense, Leavitt cited DOGE’s X account and website, through which DOGE publishes “the receipts of the contracts that they are reviewing and the payments that they have stopped from going out the door,” during Wednesday’s press briefing.

“Elon Musk is the richest man in the world,” she told reporters. “He is also now one of the most highly scrutinized men in the world, alongside President Trump, because of what he’s doing and the access that he is allowing. Let me be very clear, we are not trying to hide anything. We have been incredibly transparent, and we will continue to be.”

The press secretary then produced printouts of examples of contracts she called “fraudulent,” “wasteful,” and “abuse of the American taxpayer’s dollar,” including agreements for diversity program spending by the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services and the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office to a climate-related initiative in Sri Lanka.

“What is this doing to continue the interests of the American people? Absolutely nothing,” she said. “These are the line items across the federal government that DOGE is identifying daily. They’re moving very fast. There’s a lot of paper that we can show you, but we’re happy to do it.”

Here are the contracts that Leavitt held up during the briefing:
