Trump and Musk to sit for joint interview on Fox News next week – Washington Examiner
President donald Trump and Elon Musk, the head of the Department of Government Efficiency, will participate in their first joint televised interview on Fox News next Tuesday at 9 p.m. on the show “Hannity.” This comes amid scrutiny over MuskS role in the White House as he leads efforts to reduce waste in the federal government. During the interview, Trump will address recent Democratic criticism of his collaboration with Musk and defend their partnership. The conversation is expected to focus on the early days of Trump’s administration, Musk’s initiatives, and ongoing political debates. Musk has previously emphasized that their collaboration aligns with the people’s demand for important government reform, while the White House has rebuffed claims that Musk holds presidential powers. The interview follows a meeting where Musk reiterated his commitment to democratizing government operations. Some Democrats are calling for Musk to testify before Congress, while Republicans assert that such proceedings would be politically motivated.
Trump and Musk to sit for joint interview on Fox News next week
President Donald Trump and Elon Musk, the head of the Department of Government Efficiency, will sit down for their first televised joint interview next week.
Musk’s work in the White House spearheading DOGE’s efforts in cutting waste in the federal government has dominated the headlines of Trump’s first several weeks back in office. As Democrats have levied questions about the scope that Trump has granted Musk in reviewing the executive branch, the pair will sit for an interview together.
The interview will be on Fox News’s Hannity at 9 p.m. on Tuesday, marking the second time since returning to the White House that Trump has appeared on the show for a sit-down interview. In an excerpt shared on Fox News’s The Five on Friday, Trump mocked attempts by Democrats to drive a wedge between him and Musk.
“Actually, Elon called me, he said, ‘You know they are trying to drive us apart,’ and I said absolutely,” Trump told host Sean Hannity.
“It’s just so obvious. They are so bad at it. I used to think they were good at it. They are actually bad at it because if they were good at it, I would never be president. Because I think nobody in history has ever gotten more bad publicity than me,” Trump added after mocking people claiming Musk had taken the presidency.
Fox News said in a press release that the pretaped interview, filmed at the White House, will “focus on DOGE, the first 100 days of the Trump administration and other news of the day.”
Trump took questions with Musk in the Oval Office earlier this week, with Musk defending his role as the leader of DOGE.
“The people voted for major government reform, and that’s what the people are going to get,” Musk said. “That’s what democracy is all about.”
The Tesla CEO also said he and the president talk almost daily as he explores “common sense controls” to the federal government.
The next day, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt pushed back on claims that Musk had presidential powers or was acting as a co-president to Trump.
“It’s utterly ridiculous. Elon Musk addressed this in the Oval Office yesterday. The president addressed it as well,” Leavitt said at a press briefing on Wednesday. “Elon Musk is serving at the pleasure of the president. Just like everybody else on this team, he takes directives directly from the president of the United States.”
As Democrats continue to scrutinize Musk’s role in the White House, several on Capitol Hill have called for the billionaire to appear before Congress under oath, while Republicans have pushed back, insisting Democrats would use that time to berate Musk.
