DOGE has begun its inquiries into the federal government with some obstacles in the weeks after President Donald Trump named Elon Musk its volunteer head. While a lawsuit attempting to keep DOGE out of the data from the Labor Department was dismissed, another U.S. district judge ruled against the department accessing the U.S. Treasury.

“President Trump hit the ground running,” Cruz said. “They’re doing a lot of things, and everything they do, they’re getting sued. Democrats hate it all; they want to stop it all. So we are going to see hundreds of lawsuits from Democrat attorneys general, from left-wing activist groups. The lawsuits aren’t going to work. The president is going to follow through on the mandate that came from the voters this November.”

Additionally, the firm National Security Counselors sued DOGE for not disclosing its hiring practices, among other allegations. Former and current employees with the U.S. Agency for International Development are suing Musk directly for wielding “significant governmental” influence without being nominated to his position. The employees are citing the Constitution’s Appointments Clause, which details that there are certain governmental actions that are “exercised only by persons who are ‘Officers of the United States,’” which are nominated to their positions most often by the Senate.

Trump has stood by Musk and his new DOGE. Overall the Trump administration is facing over 60 lawsuits for the various executive orders over recent weeks. The president defended himself and his team in a Truth Social post on Saturday, writing, “He who saves his Country does not violate any Law.” 

Cruz is on the Senate DOGE Caucus, along with founder and chairwoman Joni Ernst (R-Iowa), fellow Texas Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX), and 15 others, largely pulling from the Republican Steering Committee.
