Nation happiest ‘ever,’ Trump is ‘best’ president: Rasmussen

Americans have the best outlook for the nation they have ever had, a remarkable turnaround so far kept secret by much of the media and Washington hoping to slow the support for President Donald Trump and his second-term agenda.

Rasmussen Reports pollster Mark Mitchell told Secrets on Presidents Day that for the last week, likely voters who believe the country is headed in the right direction have been about even with those who believe it is headed in the wrong direction.

What’s more, in Rasmussen’s daily polling last Thursday, right direction came in 1 point higher than wrong direction. And Trump’s approval rating hit 54%, which is very rare.

Why is that news? Mitchell told us, “Trump approval hit 54%, net plus-10, and on Thursday, right direction tied the out all-time high. But here’s what’s crazy. Right direction exceeded wrong track by 1 point, which has never happened in our polling, ever.”

He called that, “Pretty much as good as it gets.” Mitchell added on a podcast that “the country is actually as happy as they’ve ever been as measured by right direction, wrong track.”

At the end of 2024, for example, wrong track was twice as high as right direction, 61% to 30%, as former President Joe Biden wrapped up his one term. In Trump’s first three weeks, right direction has moved between 45% and 46% in Rasmussen’s surveys.

The highest wrong direction tallied came in former President George W. Bush’s final year, hitting 87% in October 2008.

And in its poll released Monday, likely voters picked Trump as the “best” president of all recent presidents. He was judged “best” by 34%, followed by former President Barack Obama at 32%. But he was also judged the “worst” by the highest share.

Most polls have shown continued growing support for Trump as he nears one month in office.

But the liberal media have instead spun out negative stories about his Department of Government Efficiency and international strongarm efforts that have, so far, worked to cut waste and led to deescalation in world hot spots.

“It turns out people like where Trump and Elon Musk are going, and now people in D.C. are panicking, searching for terms like defense lawyer, extradition, and immunity,” Mitchell said.
