Gabbard fires federal intelligence employees over sexually explicit work chats

Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard moved to terminate federal intelligence employees accused of sending “pornographic” messages using government communications systems.

Gabbard announced Tuesday she would fire over 100 workers in the federal intelligence community and revoke their security clearances after an investigation reported they used a National Security Agency chat system to send “obscene, pornographic, and sexually explicit” messages. The messages “hijacked at least two channels—LBTQA and IC_Pride_TWG—to discuss fetishes, kink, and sex,” researchers said, that was “legitimized” under NSA’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion policies.

“They were brazen in using an NSA platform intended for professional use to conduct this kind of really, really horrific behavior,” Gabbard said during a Fox News interview. “And they were brazen in doing this because when was the last time anyone was really held accountable? Certainly not over the last four years. Certainly not over the last 10, maybe 20 years.”

The news followed an investigation by researchers affiliated with the Manhattan Institute, a nonprofit conservative think tank, that reported federal employees were participating in “secret transgender chatrooms.” MI researchers Christopher Rufo and Hannah Grossman’s investigation stated that people working for NSA, the DNI, and the Defense Intelligence Agency discussed their sex lives, “genital castration, artificial vaginas, piss fetishes, sex polycules, and gangbangs” on the NSA chat system during work hours.

Gabbard confirmed the report in social media posts on Monday and Tuesday, slamming the Biden administration for allowing the chat groups under DEI policies. She said the chat groups were shut down after President Donald Trump issued an executive order striking down DEI initiatives in the federal government.

“This behavior is unacceptable and those involved WILL be held accountable. These disgusting chat groups were immediately shut down when @POTUS issued his EO ending the DEI insanity the Biden Admin was obsessed with,” Gabbard said. “Our IC must be focused on our core mission: ensuring the safety, security, and freedom of the American people.”

Members of the intelligence community using the chat rooms reportedly accused Gabbard of being “fervently anti-queer.”

As DNI, Gabbard oversees the entire U.S. intelligence community, including the CIA and FBI. After a tough confirmation battle, she was confirmed by the Senate and sworn in as DNI on Feb. 12.
