Bret Baier claps back at Chuck Todd’s criticism of his coverage
Fox News anchor Bret Baier fired back at former Meet the Press moderator Chuck Todd, suggesting he’s no longer relevant in media.
At the Innovating to Restore Trust in News Summit, Semafor’s Ben Smith asked Baier about Todd’s claim that the Fox host no longer cared about being a “journalist first.”
“I thought he really actually cared about being a journalist first and wanting to walk that line. And now he just wants to have tee time with the president,” the former NBC host recently said during a podcast interview, taking a swipe at Baier without saying his name.

“I don’t know what promoted Chuck to do that,” Baier responded on Thursday.
“I have an interview to do with the U.K. Prime Minister today,” the Fox News host remarked, adding, “So, you know, I don’t know what he’s doing, but —”
The audience erupted with laughter at the comment referring to Todd announcing his plans to leave NBC earlier this year.
“I think my focus is what I said: covering the news. If I have off-the-record conversations and moments with President Trump, I think that any journalist would want to get in his mind of what’s next,” Baier said of his conversations with the president.
“Things are going a million miles an hour. So just to have a perspective off the record so I don‘t think [what Todd said is] true,” he continued.
“As I’ve said, we’ve covered a lot of things that we were first on. You know, the cognitive questions about Joe Biden, we were told that we were running cheap, fake videos, and it was all attack. And then suddenly now, there’s suddenly an effort to rewrite history,” he addressed the media’s misleading criticisms of previous coverage on his channel.
Smith quipped, “Do you want to apologize about that?”
“No,” Baier laughed and then listed all the news stories his channel had proven to correctly report on despite criticism from other journalists that they were dwelling in “conspiracy theory.”
FOX NEWS DOMINATED INAUGURATION DAY RATINGS
“We were attacked in the media who cover media. And a year later, it turns out to be we were leading the way,” he said in defense of his channel’s journalism.
Baier added that his news channel is continually “the most watched” for breaking news coverage because of its “trust” with its audience.
" Conservative News Daily does not always share or support the views and opinions expressed here; they are just those of the writer."
