Joe Concha uses his daughter’s experience to defend Maine father silenced while protecting girls sports – Washington Examiner
In a recent discussion on Fox News’s “Fox & Friends first,” Joe Concha, a senior writer for the Washington Examiner, shared an experience involving his daughter playing soccer with a high school boy in her girls’ team. He recounted a conversation with her where she questioned why a boy was allowed to play against them, highlighting a concern amongst parents about the inclusion of transgender athletes in girls’ sports. This conversation surfaced in the context of nick Blanchard,a Maine father who was silenced during a school board meeting after criticizing a board member for opposing a return to a 2020 interpretation of Title IX,which protects female athletes. Concha expressed that a notable majority of Americans support protecting women in sports and criticized Maine Governor Janet Mills for siding with a minority view that allows biological males to compete in women’s sports. He argued that this policy creates an unfair advantage and is detrimental to the integrity of women’s athletics, even at the elementary school level.

Washington Examiner senior writer Joe Concha detailed how his young daughter recently had to share the soccer field with a high school boy when defending a Maine father who was silenced trying to defend girls’ sports.
“It was about two weeks ago, and we’re walking off the field, and my daughter says to me, ‘Why was a high school boy allowed to play against us?’” Concha shared with the crew of Fox News’s Fox & Friends First.
“She’s in fifth grade, and we all noticed it as parents that there was an abnormally like large person on the field — soccer this was — that clearly was a boy playing in a girls’ sport.”

Concha shared his daughter’s experience a day after Nick Blanchard, a Maine father, was silenced following his criticism of an Augusta school board member who was the sole vote against a return to a 2020 interpretation of Title IX, according to a report.
“Negative comments will not be allowed,” School Board Chair Martha Witham told Blanchard. “I’m not gonna allow you to speak to school board personnel in any way.”
“I’m not speaking to them. I’m speaking to you guys,” Blanchard replied. “I’m speaking to the board. I made that clear.”
Blanchard then criticized Maine Principals’ Association President Kim Liscomb, an outspoken supporter of biological males in girls sports.
“Nope, close enough,” Witham said. “You’re done, Mr. Blanchard. You’re done, Mr. Blanchard.”
Concha recently wrote an opinion piece for the Washington Examiner about the “insanity” of the transgender athlete issue and said the majority of the country is on the same side.
“We have an 80/20 issue,” Concha said. “Where 80% of American voters, right, they support protecting women and banning biological men from competing against biological women in sports.”
“And we have a Democratic governor of Maine saying, you know what, I’m gonna take that 20% support side.”
Maine Gov. Janet Mills, a Democrat, is playing to the far-left and their outlets, Concha said.
BOYS IN GIRLS SPORTS IS THE STUFF OF INSANITY
“A vast majority of the American people and voters, even in Maine, disagree with her on this because it’s the same thing as supporting steroids in sports,” he said.
“It provides an advantage,” Concha added. “Chemical, biological, over other athletes, and nobody likes to see women being hurt by men in sports, period, even on the fifth-grade level.”
