DOGE is with ‘capable people’ should Musk leave: Joe Concha – Washington Examiner

Joe Concha from the *Washington Examiner* commented on Elon Musk’s potential reduction in involvement with the Department of Government Efficiency, suggesting that its operations would remain in “capable hands” even without musk. During a recent earnings call, musk indicated he might spend less time on DOGE, coinciding with a significant drop in Tesla’s stock and earnings. concha downplayed the impact of Musk’s departure, noting that his term would soon end and emphasizing that the mission to combat fraud and waste would continue. Additionally, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz criticized Musk, suggesting he prioritizes saving his interests over investors. Concha also addressed concerns regarding a vandalism incident involving a state employee, linking it to the challenges facing Minneapolis.

DOGE is with ‘capable people’ should Musk leave: Joe Concha

The Washington Examiner’s Joe Concha brushed off concerns over Elon Musk possibly splitting ways with the Department of Government Efficiency, suggesting that it will be left in “capable” hands.

Musk stated in an earnings call on Tuesday night that he will be spending less time with DOGE “probably” next month, which comes as Tesla’s stock is down 37% since the beginning of 2025 and its earnings are down 71% from this time last year. However, Concha, a senior writer for the Washington Examiner, argued that the possible loss of Musk’s involvement would not be massive, pointing to how the billionaire’s government employee status was set to end “in a couple of weeks anyway.”

“But in the end, he has capable people working under him as far as DOGE,” Concha argued on Fox News’s The Story with Martha MacCallum, guest-hosted by Trace Gallagher. “The American people believe in the mission of rooting out fraud, waste, and corruption. You take Elon Musk out of the equation, let him run all his companies again, DOGE will continue. So, if you think just because you remove him, that is still going to go on, and most of the American people are saying, ‘yeah, we’re on board with that.’”

Gov. Tim Walz (D-MN) took a shot at Musk over his report that he would decrease his involvement in DOGE, stating the billionaire is taking “a break from destroying your retirement plan to try to save his own.” In response, Concha joked if Walz ran a funeral hall, “no one would die,” pointing to how Walz previously celebrated Tesla’s tanking stock even though Minnesota owns over 1 million shares.

FIVE TIMES TRUMP OFFICIALS’ X POSTS CAUSED LEGAL TROUBLE

Additionally, Concha addressed the vandalism that a Minnesota Department of Human Services employee is suspected of committing, with the vandalism totaling to over $20,000. Concha questioned if “stupid people” realize how stupid they are since Tesla vehicles are always attached with cameras.

The suspect is not facing any charges at this time, and instead will be given into a diversion program. Concha warned this creates a “very slippery slope” for Minneapolis and that this is why more people are leaving the Minnesota city “than any other city in the country.”
