Sharon Stone: ‘Cancel Culture Is The Stupidest Thing I Have Ever Seen Happen’

Award-winning actress Sharon Stone ripped into cancel culture during a radio interview Thursday, noting people’s diverse backgrounds and advising them to “grow up” and employ some “empathy.”

While speaking to Stone about her upcoming book “The Beauty of Living Twice,” “Just Jenny” host Jenny Hutt touched on the phenomenon of cancel culture and people’s fear to speak out on tough issues.

“I think cancel culture is the stupidest thing I have ever seen happen,” Stone bluntly told Hutt, Fox News reported.

“I think when people say things that they feel and mean, and it’s offensive to you, it’s a brilliant opportunity for everyone to learn and grow and understand each other,” the “Casino” actress continued.

Stone emphasized that differing perspectives derive from our diverse backgrounds.

“We all come from different ages, different cultures, different backgrounds, different things, and have had different experiences, different traumas, different upbringings, different parents, different religious backgrounds, different everything,” she said, noting that we need to “give people an opportunity to discuss things before you wipe out their entire person over a statement or a comment or a misunderstanding.”

“Stop being so small,” Stone urged. “People have done so much more than one sentence.”

The actress advised folks to “grow up” and “grow some empathy.”

One of the latest high-profile cases of cancel culture erupt last month when “Mandalorian” actress Gina Carano was booted by Disney+ from the series over conservative social media posts.

Reports indicate Carano became a target months before her firing over conservative tweets. For example, Carano confirmed that she would not add so-called “preferred pronouns” to her Twitter bio after being pressed by Twitter users. Carano mocked the bullying by adding “Beep Bop Boop” to her bio, instead.

The canceling was disrupted, however, when Carano signed on at The Daily Wire to produce and star in an upcoming film.

“The Daily Wire is helping make one of my dreams — to develop and produce my own film — come true. I cried out and my prayer was answered,” Carano said in a statement at the time. “I am sending out a direct message of hope to everyone living in fear of cancellation by the totalitarian mob. I have only just begun using my voice which is now freer than ever before, and I hope it inspires others to do the same. They can’t cancel us if we don’t let them.”

Daily Wire co-founder and Editor Emeritus Ben Shapiro strongly denounced Carano’s firing.

“Social movements have consequences, and we are now in the middle of a mass social movement to expel half of the American population from the body politic,” he said.

“It is not about an honest attempt to cleanse the culture. It is not about an honest attempt to have discussion or conversation,” Shapiro added. “It is about, can we wrong-foot you so that we have an excuse to say that your entire career has been completely and utterly garbage and that you are a bad person, and so we feel good about excising you from the body politic. That’s all that is happening right now in the culture, and that is a big deal.”
