Hunter Biden defended his decision to take a seat on the board of Ukrainian gas company Burisma, claiming he had expertise in corporate governance.

Biden made the remarks during an appearance on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” on Thursday. During the interview, Biden said he served on a dozen boards before Burisma, including being a chairman of the board at Amtrak and World Food Program USA.

Kimmel read an excerpt from Biden’s upcoming memoir, in which he denied any wrongdoing despite his father being the vice president at the time.

“You wrote, did I make a mistake by taking a seat on the board of a Ukrainian gas company? No. Did I display a lack of judgment? No. Would I do it again? No,” Kimmel read.

“However, what I didn’t take into account was the way they would use the perception against my dad and for that, I wouldn’t do it again for that reason,” Biden explained.

Senate Republicans investigating Biden’s controversial business dealings with Burisma found the Obama administration ignored “glaring warning signs” when Hunter took the position with the Ukrainian firm.
