Mom Admits To Drowning Her Three Kids ‘Softly’ While Apologizing To Them
The mother accused of killing her three young children reportedly confessed to drowning her children to protect them from their father.
Liliana Carrillo is accused of killing her 3-year-old Joanna, 2-year-old Terry and six-month old Sierra. Carrillo exclusively told KGET 17 she carried out the murder to protect the children from their father, who she alleges is involved in human trafficking. The couple are reportedly in the midst of a custody battle.
“I drowned them. I did it as softly, I don’t know how to explain it,” Carrillo said during the interview with KGET 17. “I hugged them. I kissed them. I was apologizing the whole time. I loved my kids.”
Carrillo said she had to kill the children because she “promised to protect them,” according to the report.
“I didn’t want them to be further abused. I loved my kids.”
Carrillo told the outlet while she wishes she didn’t have to kill her children, she thinks she made the right decision, according to the interview.
“I wish my kids were alive, yes. Do I wish that I didn’t have to do that? Yes. But I prefer them not being tortured and abused on a regular basis for the rest of their life.” (RELATED: Mom Charged With Strangling 4-Year-Old Son, Police Say)
Carrillo’s final message for her children was “I love you. And I’m sorry,” according to the report.
Carrillo was taken into custody Saturday, according to the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD). LAPD said Carrillo was the “sole suspect” in the killings.
Officers responded to a call involving a possible death around 9:30 a.m. Saturday in the West Valley. Upon arrival, officers found three deceased children. Police then began searching for Carrillo.
