Despite Heavy Media Support, Hunter Biden’s Book Fails To Make Top 10
Despite the fact that the Democrat-supporters in major media gave his book heavy promotion, Hunter Biden’s “Beautiful Things: A Memoir” sold fewer than 11,000 copies the first week after it was published, leaving him buried behind 11 other hardcover nonfiction books.
Publishers Weekly stated that the book sold 10,638 copies last week.
Among other outlets, CBS News, CNN and ABC’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” pushed the memoir. Biden conducted interviews with Anthony Mason on “CBS This Morning” and with Tracy Smith on “CBS Sunday Morning.”
By comparison, as Fox News highlighted, “Fox News host Shannon Bream’s new book, ‘The Women of the Bible Speak: The Wisdom of 16 Women and Their Lessons for Today,’ sold 32,686 copies during the same timeframe to finish second.”
CNN’s Brian Stelter, who praised Biden’s book in his newsletter, called Biden’s book “breathtaking” and “extraordinary” on his show “Reliable Sources.”
In “Beautiful Things,” Biden reportedly takes aim at former President Trump’s children, Donald Jr. and Eric, writing, “Do you think if any of the Trump children ever tried to get a job outside of their father’s business that his name wouldn’t figure into the calculation? My response has always been to work harder so that my accomplishments stand on their own.”
Biden’s comments in the book, which was released April 6, came after Donald Trump Jr. told Axios in March 2020 he wanted to debate Hunter Biden regarding who had benefited more financially from their father being in the federal government.
Trump Jr. stated, “We can go full transparency, we show everything, and we can talk about all of the places where I am supposedly grifting but Hunter Biden isn’t.” Asked if he would release his tax returns, Trump Jr. said, “If we do it both, 100%. Let’s talk about who profited off of whose public service. Happy to do it. Let’s make it happen.”
Trump Jr. stated on Fox News in October 2019, “When you’re the father and your son’s entire career is dependent on that, they own you. They’ve bought Biden Inc., and they’ve been doing it domestically, whether it was MBNA Bank, whether it was Amtrak, whatever it was, domestically, when he was a senator, and had influence over domestic policy, and they started doing it internationally the second Joe Biden became vice-president and had authority abroad.”
Stylecaster reported other comments from Hunter Biden’s book:
At one point in the memoir, the father of five calls out fellow First Sons Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump for finding success through nepotism. The former president’s sons have worked with him for the entirety of their professional careers, whereas Hunter notes, “I’ve worked for someone other than my father, rose and fell on my own.” “There’s no question my last name was a coveted credential. That has always been the case,” Hunter writes later in the memoir, acknowledging his own privilege as Joe Biden’s son.
