Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) said the Democrat Party radicalized itself during President Trump’s first term.
Cruz spoke on the Senate floor Thursday in protest of the left violating Judiciary Committee rules in order to approve Vanita Gupta, Joe Biden’s pick for associate attorney general. He said Senate Democrats and Joe Biden are caving to the progressive wing by consistently supporting far-left candidates for top leadership positions in the administration.
For years, Joe Biden’s nominee for Associate Attorney General Vanita Gupta demonstrated a persistent hostility to religious liberty when she defended Obama’s persecution of the Little Sisters of the Poor.

“The Democratic Party has changed. Democratic Party today is radicalized, they hate Donald Trump. Now I understand Donald Trump in a unique character. I understand that his existence and every word he uttered enraged Democrats,” Cruz stated. “But they’ve emerged from four years in the Trump administration more radical than any majority party in this body ever has been.”
The Texas senator specifically raised concern over Gupta’s view on religious liberty. Gupta notably supported the Obama White House’s persecution of the Little Sisters of the Poor, when former President Obama attempted to sway the Supreme Court to force the group to administer contraceptives and abortions.
