Caitlyn Jenner Jousts With Rep. Ted Lieu Over His ‘Condescending Tone’
California Republican gubernatorial candidate Caitlyn Jenner on Saturday engaged in a Twitter spat with Rep. Ted Lieu (D-CA), who issued a tweet implying that Jenner is ignorant of how the government works.
“Dear @Caitlyn_Jenner: District Attorneys are elected by voters, not appointed by Gov @GavinNewsom,” Lieu tweeted in response to a tweet in which Jenner criticized “Gavin’s District Attorneys across California” for “releasing dangerous criminals back on to our street.”
“Also, do you know how a bill becomes a law? Here is a cool Schoolhouse Rock video for you to educate yourself,” Lieu added. “Do you know what ‘veto’ means? Or ‘budget’?”

“Ted, that kind of condescending tone is whats [sic] wrong w/ politics,” Jenner responded. “Of course I know DAs are elected, but as the CEO of the state, the buck stops with Newsom. If you want to defend the status quo then fine, but if you want to talk solutions to the crime in our streets, call anytime.”

Jenner, who is a Republican, has been met with backlash since announcing a gubernatorial run Friday. Detractors are accusing Jenner of running a “vanity campaign,” and some members of the LGBT community have claimed Jenner does not speak for them.
“Black people wouldn’t vote for Candace Owen for office,” tweeted “Star Trek” actor George Takei, who is gay. “The disabled community wouldn’t vote for Madison Cawthorn. I’m LGBTQ but I won’t be voting for Caitlyn Jenner. Just so we’re clear.”

Even the Kardashians are unlikely to support Jenner’s run for political office, according to a source close to the family who spoke to Yahoo Entertainment.
As The Daily Wire reported regarding Jenner’s announcement:
“California has been my home for nearly 50 years,” Jenner said in a statement. “I came here because I knew that anyone, regardless of their background or station in life, could turn their dreams into a reality. But for the past decade, we have seen the glimmer of the Golden State reduced by one-party rule that places politics over progress and special interests over people. Sacramento needs an honest leader with a clear vision.”
Jenner went on to list bona fides ranging from winning the gold medal at the Olympics to advancing equality for transgender people, adding, “I am a proven winner and the only outsider who can put an end to Gavin Newsom’s disastrous time as governor.”
Jenner highlighted high taxes and the consequences of the state’s “over-restrictive lockdown” as examples of Newsom’s failed leadership.
“This isn’t the California we know. This is Gavin Newsom’s California, where he orders us to stay home but goes out to dinner with his lobbyist friends,” said Jenner, referencing Newsom getting caught dining with friends indoors without masks at The French Laundry, an opulent Napa Valley restaurant that charges $1,200 per person for a white truffle and caviar dinner.
