‘Serial Sexual Assaulter Says What?’: De Blasio Aide Reignites Feud, Blasts Gov. Andrew Cuomo

The ongoing feud between Democratic New York Governor Andrew Cuomo and New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio continues to heat up, with de Blasio’s press secretary openly mocking Cuomo regarding the accusations of sexual harassment being leveled against the governor.

On the phone with New York Post reporter Nolan Hicks, city hall press secretary Bill Neidhardt reportedly said, “Serial sexual assaulter says what?” when asked about Cuomo’s criticism of de Blasio from earlier in the day.

The feud between the two Democrats was “reignited at a vaccination event in Buffalo, N.Y.,” reported The Hill, “where reporters asked the governor about de Blasio’s announcement that New York City was hoping to loosen most if not all of its COVID-19 restrictions by July 1,” as well as de Blasio’s calls for the governor to resign.

“First, the mayor of New York, I don’t know what he’s indicative of. And I say that as a former New York City boy,” Cuomo said, according to Business Insider. “Ask the people in New York City what they think of the mayor of New York City, and I would second their opinion.”

“De Blasio’s spokesman, Bill Neidhardt, fired back in a statement to the New York Post by referencing how Cuomo is facing multiple allegations of unwanted sexual contact,” continued The Hill.

Business Insider reported that “Cuomo spokesman Rich Azzopardi sent Insider a link to a tweet of a GIF from the movie ‘Top Gun’ when asked if the governor’s office had a response to Neidhardt.”

In March, de Blasio “charged that Cuomo’s ongoing scandals were affecting New York’s ability to fight the coronavirus pandemic,” calling on Cuomo to resign.

“He should resign right now because he’s holding up our effort to fight COVID. He’s literally in the way of us saving lives right now,” de Blasio told CBS.

On the subject of de Blasio’s reopening plans, Cuomo said “I want it opened up on Monday. I want to open up New York City on Tuesday. I want it open on Wednesday. I want Buffalo opened up on Thursday,” according to the New York Post.

“There is no person who will safely reopen faster than myself,” Cuomo said. “I’m not going to predict the future. But if you said to me, ‘July 1,’ I’d say, ‘I hope to get there before July 1.’”

Last week, The Daily Wire reported that “New York Governor Andrew Cuomo is the country’s highest-paid governor in history, with an annual salary of $225,000,” despite the multiple ongoing scandals.

The scandal-embroiled governor was scheduled to make even more in 2021 — with a $25,000 raise to $250,000 per year — which would have completed a $71,000 (41%) pay increase over three years. “However, he opted not to take the extra $25,000,” noted Forbes.

In early April, Rep. Lee Zeldin (R-NY) announced the launch of his 2022 gubernatorial campaign, looking to unseat Cuomo.

“I’ll bring the kind of relentless, fighting spirit towards helping to save our state that Cuomo reserves for multi-million dollar self-congratulatory book deals, cover-ups, abuse & self-dealing,” he stated.
