Lindsey Graham: Donald Trump Is Most Popular Republican In America, Those Who Try To Erase Him Will Be Erased
Republican South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham issued a stark warning to Republicans who think they can “erase” former President Donald Trump as leader of the party.
Graham gave notice to those within the Republican party who have been critical of Trump and believe that the party should move in a different direction, while on Fox News’ “Hannity” on Monday night.
Graham specifically referenced Wyoming Rep. Liz Cheney, who has been among the most vocal critics of Trump within the Republican Party.
“The most popular Republican in America — it’s not Lindsey Graham, it’s not [Rep.] Liz Cheney, it’s Donald Trump. People on our side of the aisle believe the Trump policies worked. They’re disappointed that he lost, and to try to erase Donald Trump from the Republican Party is insane, and the people who try to erase him are going to wind up getting erased,” stated Graham.
Cheney voted in favor of impeaching Trump, and has publicly excoriated the former president for his continued claims that there was rampant fraud in the 2020 Presidential Election.
As a result of her opposition to Trump’s influence, Cheney is currently facing a vote to replace her as the third-ranking House Republican. (RELATED: Trump Calls On GOP To Oust Cheney From House Leadership, Put In Stefanik)
“The people who are conservative have chosen [Trump] as their leader … The people have chosen him, not the pundits,” Graham added.
Graham’s statements reinforced what he had said a week earlier on Hannity, when he made headlines by stating that without the former president, the Republican Party “can’t grow” or “move forward.”
