Hearts are heavy in a community in Florida following Sunday’s mass shooting, which left at least two people dead and 23 injured.

During a press briefing on Monday, the Miami-Dade Police Department shared their latest findings with officials believing gang violence was the most likely cause of the shooting. Additionally, authorities confirmed they had been able to locate the suspects vehicle with police finding the car submerged in a canal.

“We have intelligence information that this resulted from an ongoing rivalry from two different groups,” stated Major Jorge Aguilar of the Miami-Dade Police Homicide Bureau. “We know that our intended target was most likely in front of the establishment when the shooting took place and that’s what we’re trying to work now to with our investigators.”

According to police, three suspects got out of a white SUV and began to open fire at a crowd gathering at a banquet hall near Hialeah that had been rented out for a concert. The tragedy came after a separate shooting in the area over the weekend killed one person and injured six others.

“In total, over 30 people shot and three dead so far,” stated city Mayor Daniella Levine Cava. “This is unacceptable. Let me be very clear: we will do everything, everything we can and use every resource available to bring these people to justice.”

So far, no arrests have been made with authorities offering a $130,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction.

“Please help us to bring to justice these shooters, to bring justice for these victims, and help us prevent more violence,” continued the mayor. “We must get these killers off the streets, we can only do it with your help.”

Local and state officials are actively working with federal authorities on the investigation.
