A federal judge has overturned an overreaching gun ban in California. The decision was handed down by U.S. District Judge Roger Benitez on Friday.
Benitez stated that the ban denied residents of their Second Amendment right. In his nine page ruling he mentioned, “like the swiss army knife… the popular AR-15 rifle is a perfect combination of home defense weapon and homeland defense equipment”.
He went on to slam false narratives presented by the mainstream media saying, “a Californian is three times more likely to be murdered by an attacker’s bare hands, fists or feet than by his rifle”.

Gov. Gavin Newsom (D-Calif.) took to Twitter on Saturday to slam Benitez by claiming this decision is a direct threat to the public safety of California residents. He also mentioned how disrespectful this decision was to families who have lost loved ones from instances involving these types of guns and vowed to challenge the ruling.
Benitez issued a permanent injunction against enforcement of the law, but issued a 30-day stay to give State Attorney General Rob Bonta time to appeal.
