A retired U.S. Navy SEAL and Shark Tank winner launched his bid to take on an Arizona Democrat for a seat in the House of Representatives. On Tuesday, veteran Eli Crane announced he would be challenging Democrat Tom Halleran in the 2022 midterms, saying it’s his time to step up and serve his country as Arizona’s congressman.
Crane will be running in the state’s 1st Congressional District, which was won by President Trump in 2016, giving the conservative Republican a potential leg up over Halleran. Meanwhile, he has already accused his opponent of being Nancy Pelosi’s (D-Calif.) puppet.
Crane joined the Navy just days after 9/11 and went on to serve in the Middle East, training with the most famous U.S. sniper Chris Kyle. In his campaign video, Crane is shown getting the phrase “we the people” tattooed on his arm as he criticizes career politicians for being self-serving.
“The problem with Washington politicians is they have no skin in the game. It’s all about them and almost never about us,” said Crane.
I joined the Navy week after 9/11 & volunteered to be sent into the heart of the fight for America. Today I’m announcing my run for Congress. If we don’t start sending folks who are willing to die for it then we’re going to loose it. Follow me @EliCraneAZ https://t.co/yGFBuBM9N8 pic.twitter.com/NUqvWHePug

The military veteran said the key issues he is running on include flipping Joe Biden’s open border policies, dismantling the liberal push for critical race theory education in schools and ensuring the election security issues highlighted by ballot concerns in Arizona’s 2020 election are addressed.
He also is a strong proponent of standing up for the nation’s law enforcement and military, wants to give more support to small businesses and cut taxes for America’s middle class families. Crane said he has dedicated his life to service, saying the greatest threat to the American way of life “isn’t external, it’s right here at home.”
He added he was given the chance to live the American dream and he wants to make sure that the following generations are as blessed as he has been.
