Former Assistant Health Secretary Brett Giroir warned of more lockdowns in the near future. In an interview on Friday, the Trump-era coronavirus testing czar said indoor masks would be needed if vaccinations continued at their current pace.
The former four-star admiral warned if more people didn’t get vaccinated, the government would be put into the situation of considering more lockdowns. He added this would be a “disaster” and insisted lockdowns were counter-productive as well as “horrible for our children.”
Giroir went on to slam public health advisers for changing masking guidelines while not releasing the data behind the decision at the same time. However, he suggested individuals in high-risk areas to continue the usage of masks in effort to avoid becoming infected with the Delta variant.
America is #CovidConfused regarding #masking. It is imperative that @CDCDirector @POTUS release their data on the specific frequency of #vaccinated people transmitting #DeltaVariant to others. Then we can assess & debate the #science and #policy, and not just the politics.

According to the CDC, 49.6 percent of the U.S. population have been fully vaccinated, while 57.7 percent have received the first dose.
