The New York State Assembly has considered impeaching disgraced Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D-N.Y.) after an investigation found he sexually harassed at least 11 women who worked for the state. On Wednesday, Democrat State Assembly Member Kenny Burgos said the report is clear-cut and even colleagues who were once on the fence, have agreed Cuomo is no longer fit to serve as governor.
“So at this point, Andrew Cuomo is standing on a ship of one: Andrew Cuomo. So, I don’t know how you can really recover from this, especially with this timeline, especially because the Assembly essentially holds your fate in their hands and there’s no vote of confidence in him,” said Burgos.
On Tuesday, Assembly Democrats debated for hours about whether to impeach Cuomo now or wait to see him resign. Burgos said the fact is the majority of state Democrats have been praying he resigns and if he fails to do so, then they would have no choice but to impeach him.

He added it would be a much better situation for Cuomo if he resigned because they can’t afford any more distractions, especially as they try to help New Yorkers grapple with the aftermath of his lockdown orders. Many New Yorkers like Vera Penavic agreed and said stepping down would be the least Cuomo could do considering the suffering he caused his female staffers for years.
In the meantime, the New York State Assembly is conducting their own investigation into the Democrat governor for additional points of concern, like his $5 million book deal where more controversy is sure to surface. However, this does not need to be complete before they file articles of impeachment.
