British Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab announced the U.K. withdrawal from Afghanistan will take every last minute to meet the deadline for evacuating citizens.
On Wednesday, the secretary said their main goal is maximizing the time spent on the ground getting people through the airport given the Taliban’s pressure to get foreigners out of the country. Raab said to be able to do so, the Taliban will have to cooperate with international partners in able to control even their own people.
“If they want a functioning airport, if they want a functioning economy even at a rudimentary level, they will have to moderate the way they go about their conduct and their business,” he stated. “And that will mean being more inclusive, providing assurances to people within their own country.”
