Mother Nature Strikes: National Christmas Tree Collapses ‌Days Before Lighting Ceremony

It ⁣seems like Mother Nature has a flair for dramatic metaphors. The victim of her latest display was none other than the National Christmas Tree in Washington, D.C., which was ‌set to be‍ lit by the president ‌later this week.

However, before the grand event could take place,⁤ the tree ⁣was brought down by the relentless weather. Heavy winds on Washington D.C.’s coldest ⁢day since last winter‍ caused the tree to‌ topple over, as reported‌ by The Hill.

Fortunately, the tree was quickly restored ‍to an upright‍ position with the help of a crane and a snapped cable was replaced. The National⁣ Park Service confirmed that⁢ the tree is⁤ now ready for the annual lighting ‌ceremony⁣ on Thursday, according to The Western⁢ Journal.

The tree lighting ceremony, ⁤which celebrates its 100th‌ anniversary this year, ⁣will feature not only the president but also‍ celebrity guests like‍ country music singer‍ Mickey Guyton, Dionne Warwick, Joe Walsh from ⁣the‍ Eagles, ⁣and⁢ indie pop star St. Vincent.

Despite ⁢the setback, the‍ event is still scheduled to go on as planned, bringing holiday cheer to the⁣ nation.
