‘A Learning Experience’: Video Shows Black Elementary Students Attacking White Students, Forcing Them to Say ‘Black Lives Matter’
“This has been blown totally and completely out of proportion,” local NAACP president states.
Surveillance video shows white students being attacked by black students at Kenwood Elementary school in Springfield, Ohio. They are reportedly forced to speak out. “black lives matter.”
The incident occurred on Monday, February 13.
The video The assault took place during recess. It began with a larger black student escorting a smaller, white student across the outdoor basketball court’s pavement. One point, the larger student punches the smaller student in his head. A second black student joins the fray, grasping the other arm of the white student to assist the larger student in transferring the victim to a cement area with two swings. The video was apparently blurred to hide the identities of minors.
A third student of black charges in and knocks the white student to the floor. The third student of black bends over the white student and punches them repeatedly in the head. After that, he walks away. Three black students then lift the white student from the ground. The white student, who is dazed and stumbling, is then rescued from the ground by three black students. He or she is then forced to kneel on cement. One point, the white student, stunned, falls onto the cement. Then, they are lifted up to their knees. Police reports state that the student was forced by police to say “black lives matter.”
The second white student appears to be trying to reach the aid of the first. However, the black students confront the second student who is then instructed to kneel down on the ground. Reports say that they demanded both the white and black students to say something as four black students stood over them. “black lives matter” While the black students recorded them following instructions. The video shows five black students jumping excitedly up and down, as if celebrating.
A third white student is asked to sit on the sidewalk alongside the two others wearing a red hoodie. The first white student was punched in the head and is now being shoved and knocked about by two black students.
‘Chased Down,’ ‘Dragged or Carried’
According to Dayton 2 25/7 Now, Kenwood Elementary School Principal Evan Hunsaker Police were told by some students of color that they tried to avoid the attack. “chased down and escorted, dragged or carried” To the area next to the swings.
In a Feb. 13 post on social media, Krystal Harr—the mother of one of the assaulted students issued a warning to all “Kenwood Elementary families.”
“I just wanted to let people know that my 12 year old was really forced on his knees Friday and to say blm,” Harr stated. “Watch your babies! This is getting unsafe!” Harr commented on the thread that her son was “thrown to the ground.” She also stated that “the teacher watched it all.”
“I’m checking into a lawyer for sure,” Harr was added. “This is insane. Poor kid is terrified to go to school.”
Ryan Springer, another victim’s parent, spoke out to local station WHIO He was furious that his son had to be forced on his knees in order to speak. “black lives matter” or get beat up.
“They basically told him to get down on his knees and say ‘BLM,’ and if he didn’t, that they was going to beat him up and all that,” Spinger said. “I’m not angry about my son saying Black Lives Matter. Everybody’s life does matter. I’m more about the assault of it, of him being forced down on the ground.”
In a Feb. 20 statement WKEF and the Springfield City School district shared this information “the events that took place at Kenwood Elementary, unfortunately, had to be referred to law enforcement officials, which limited the district’s ability to share information with our families.”
“While privacy laws only allow the District to provide details about the discipline of a child to their parent or guardian, the Springfield City School District does not approve of and will not tolerate the reported behavior,” The statement was further elaborated. “The Springfield Police Division is in the process of pursuing charges for involved students based upon the ongoing investigation and the District will issue appropriate school discipline in accordance with Board Policy.”
The district also promised to keep its word. “continue to work for greater acceptance and WILL NOT give up on any student. The district will use this as a learning experience, embrace all students involved and become a stronger Wildcat Family for having been through this together.”
‘A Teachable Moment’
Denise Williams, Springfield NAACP President told WKEF On February 24, “I don’t care what color they are. They need to be held accountable.”
But she believes the black students shouldn’t be charged because the incidents have been exaggerated.
“This is a teachable moment,” Williams agreed with the district’s statement “learning experience” sentiment. “We need to really educate the school, and the parents.”
Williams believes that the racist attack was not a big deal a week later.
“This whole thing has been blown completely out of proportion,” Williams spoke with The Epoch Times, March 3. “This is not something that needs national attention. Trust and believe. This has been blown completely and totally out of proportion. I’m not standing for it, this racial tension. It’s blown completely out of proportion and we’re still trying to resolve it, and that’s all I want to say and I’ll leave it at that.”
At a Feb. 20 press conference, Springfield Police Chief Allison Elliott said “multiple students were assaulted on the playground,” The department opened an investigation
“As a result of this investigation, we are actively pursuing charges for the identified assaults,” Elliott added that the incident remains under investigation. Anyone with any information regarding what happened should contact Springfield Police Division 937-324-7716 Oder 937-324-7685.
The Epoch Times reached Kenwood Elementary School, the School District, and the Springfield Police Department multiple times. However, no response was received by the Epoch Times at the time of publication.
