Millionaire crypto influencer missing, dismembered body found in suitcase.
A Cryptocurrency Influencer’s Mysterious Disappearance and Gruesome Discovery
In a shocking turn of events, a well-known cryptocurrency influencer has gone missing, only to be found dismembered in a suitcase. Fernando Pérez Algaba, a successful businessman with a massive following on Instagram, vanished during his trip to Argentina.
Algaba, a Barcelona resident, was renting an apartment in Argentina and was scheduled to return the keys on July 19. However, he failed to do so and stopped answering his phone, causing concern among the property owner and authorities, as reported by the New York Post.
The gruesome discovery took place over the weekend when a group of children stumbled upon a red suitcase filled with body parts near a stream in Ingeniero Budge, Buenos Aires Province. The horrified children immediately alerted their parents, who promptly contacted the police. Upon inspection, Algaba’s legs and a forearm were found in the suitcase, while his other arm was discovered in the stream. Subsequently, his head and torso were also recovered on Wednesday.
Local media reported that Algaba’s body parts had been cleanly amputated, indicating the involvement of a professional in the dismemberment. An autopsy revealed that Algaba had been shot three times before his body was mutilated.
A Murder Investigation Unfolds
Argentinian authorities have launched a murder investigation and have already apprehended one suspect believed to be connected to the crime. However, the motive behind the influencer’s brutal killing remains unknown. Authorities speculate that it may be related to financial issues, as Algaba had significant debts.
Known as “Lechuga” (lettuce) among his friends, Algaba had a humble beginning, starting his entrepreneurial journey at the age of 14 by selling sandwiches. Over the years, he progressed to buying and repairing vehicles, eventually amassing a warehouse filled with luxury cars, motorcycles, and jet skis. He expanded his business to Miami, renting out vehicles and jet skis, before relocating to Spain. In recent years, Algaba also ventured into cryptocurrency trading, employing 25 individuals in his Spanish trading business.
However, Algaba’s success was marred by mounting debts. He had incurred substantial liabilities with Argentina’s tax agency and his company, Motors Lettuce SRL, faced financial troubles, including bouncing checks. Additionally, he left a note on his phone confessing to losses from crypto investments.
Furthermore, Algaba had encountered problems with a notorious Argentine gang called Barra Bravas, who allegedly demanded repayment of a $40,000 loan.
As the investigation unfolds, the cryptocurrency community mourns the loss of a prominent figure, while authorities work tirelessly to uncover the truth behind this gruesome crime.
