The U.S. Marine Corps Searches for Missing Helicopter and Crew
The U.S. Marine Corps is currently conducting a search for five Marines who went missing after their helicopter disappeared during a flight from Creech Air Force Base in Nevada to Marine Corps Air Station Miramar in California.
The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department, in collaboration with CBS News, has deployed search-and-rescue units to locate the missing helicopter.
LT. Matthew Carpenter, spokesperson for the San Diego County Sheriff’s office, stated that the search operation commenced at 1 a.m. local time on Wednesday morning.
The search team has been dispatched to the eastern part of San Diego, specifically in the area of the Cleveland National Forest.
The search effort involves multiple agencies, including Border Patrol and the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection.
However, the search is challenged by rough terrain and heavy snowfall, exacerbated by extreme weather conditions in the San Diego area, which has experienced heavy rain and a rare tornado warning.
As of now, no significant findings have been made, and the search is still ongoing.
