Adam Schiff’s Senate campaign receives an unprecedented $8 million following GOP censure.

Rep. Adam Schiff Raises Record $8.1 Million for Senate Bid

Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) has achieved a remarkable feat in his Senate bid, raising over $8.1 million in the second quarter of fundraising. This impressive haul comes on the heels of Schiff being censured by House Republicans, making him one of the few members of Congress to face such a reprimand.

“Misleading the American public and conduct unbecoming of an elected Member of the House of Representatives” – House Republicans

Interestingly, this censure may have actually worked in Schiff’s favor, as it appears to have motivated voters to donate to his campaign. Politico reports that Schiff’s campaign received contributions from more than 144,000 unique donors, with donations pouring in from all 50 states and all 58 counties in California.

What’s even more impressive is that 98% of these contributions came from grassroots supporters giving less than $200, with the average donation amounting to $34.

Undeterred by the censure, Schiff took to social media, email, and text messages to rally support and campaign on the vote. He proudly declared, “This is a badge of honor. They go after people that are effective. I expose the corruption of the former president. I led the first impeachment trial of the former president to the first bipartisan vote to remove a president.”

In the first quarter of 2023, Schiff’s campaign had already raised $6.5 million. With this latest fundraising haul, he has surpassed that amount by nearly $2 million. Meanwhile, his primary opponent, Rep. Katie Porter (D-CA), raised $4.5 million in the same quarter.

As the race heats up, Schiff and Porter are vying for the opportunity to run for the seat currently held by 90-year-old Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) in the 2024 general election. Recent polling shows that among California voters, Schiff and Porter are neck and neck, with 15% and 14% support, respectively. Among registered Democrats, Schiff holds a slight lead with 23% support compared to Porter’s 22%, according to Emerson College Polling.
