Air Force engineer probed for allegedly removing equipment off-site.
Government Engineer Allegedly Caught with Critical Compromise of Defense Department Facilities
One Air Force engineer was allegedly caught with government radio equipment in his home, spurring an investigation.
According to a search warrant obtained by Forbes, the anonymous 48-year-old engineer had about $90,000 worth of equipment and software that added up to a “critical compromise” of Defense Department facilities. He had “unauthorized administrator access” to “administrative passwords and electronic system keys” for the Air Education and Training Command radio network, “local law enforcement radio programming files,” “Motorola radio programming files,” and an open computer screen, ”which contained the entire Arnold Air Force Base communications system.”

No charges have been filed against the engineer. The DOD did not respond to the Washington Examiner’s request for comment.
Arnold Air Force Base is located in Tennessee and focuses on missile testing. Its contributions have assisted in aerospace missions such as Atlas, Titan, Minuteman, and Peacekeeper ICBMs, the space shuttle, space station, and Projects Mercury, Gemini, and Apollo, per its website.
The FBI was also cited in the warrant as assisting in the investigation, suggesting that the same engineer also breached its communications.

This comes three months after the Air Force’s Jack Teixeira was charged with allegedly leaking documents on a Discord channel. The airman was reprimanded twice in the fall of 2022 regarding his handling of sensitive information before he allegedly went on to share hundreds of classified documents on Discord over a span of months before his arrest on April 13.
Teixeira’s unit commander and the detachment commander overseeing administrative support have both been temporarily suspended amid the fallout of the extraordinary leaks.
