During⁢ President Donald Trump’s recent joint address ⁤to ​Congress, congressman Al Green​ (D-TX) was removed from the House chamber after‍ he loudly heckled Trump, shouting, “You have⁢ no‍ mandate.” This disruption occurred ‌as⁤ Republicans ‍in the chamber began to boo him and chant “USA” in an attempt to drown ⁣him out.

Speaker of the House Mike johnson (R-LA) ​repeatedly requested that⁣ order⁤ be ⁣maintained, but​ after several warnings, ‍he⁢ instructed the sergeant-at-arms to ‍escort Green out.⁤ As Green was being removed, he continued to voice his protest, ‍which was in response to concerns over proposed cuts to‌ Medicaid.After his removal,Green ​stated ​that it was important to stand up for those‌ affected ⁢by such legislation.

The atmosphere during the address was tense, wiht Green’s protest​ amidst‍ other‌ Democrats ⁤who were seen ‍holding signs such as “Save Medicaid” and “Protect Veterans,” while also responding with laughter to some ‌of Trump’s remarks.⁢ Green, known for having⁣ filed ‌articles of impeachment against Trump in the past, emphasized the‌ necessity of voicing opposition ​during critical‍ discussions surrounding‌ healthcare reforms.

Rep. Al Green (D-TX) was escorted out of the House chamber after he disrupted President Donald Trump’s joint address before Congress.

Green stood up during the address, yelling, “You have no mandate,” as Republicans began booing and chanting “USA” to try to drown him out.

After Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) repeatedly asked for order and for members to maintain decorum, the speaker finally asked the sergeant-at-arms to escort Green out of the chamber.

Green, who has repeatedly filed articles of impeachment against Trump, continued to yell as he left while Republicans cheered and laughed.

He told reporters afterward that his statement was in reference to proposed Medicaid cuts. Trump has said the entitlement program will not be slashed in GOP legislation later this year except for “waste, fraud, and abuse.”

“It’s worth it to let people know that there are some people who are going to stand up,” Green said.

As the address was starting, several Democrats held up signs that said “Save Medicaid,” “Protect Veterans,” and “Musk Steals.” As the speech continued, Democrats laughed during some of Trump’s remarks or shouted out one-liners.
