Al Roker Celebrates Birthday and​ Reflects on Health Scare

Longtime “Today”⁢ show host⁤ Al Roker expressed⁣ his⁢ gratitude for another ​year of life as he celebrated⁣ his birthday this weekend. The 69-year-old NBC ‌host had been absent from the airwaves for several weeks due to multiple hospitalizations.

Roker, who had to be hospitalized before Thanksgiving 2022 after a​ blood clot in his leg ‍traveled to his lungs, shared his appreciation for reaching his 69th birthday in a video on Instagram. ⁣He expressed his gratitude to all those who had⁣ sent well wishes and good‍ thoughts during his health journey.

“A⁣ lot to be grateful for on‌ this birthday and [I’m] glad to be alive,” Roker expressed. “Thank‍ you and take care. Have ⁤a great Sunday!”

Earlier this year, Roker⁣ returned to the morning show on January 6​ after being⁣ hospitalized multiple times for blood clots.‌ He described his ⁤journey as a “tough slog” and acknowledged the challenges he faced during his recovery.

The weatherman admitted that his four-week hospital stay had taken a toll on his body, causing muscle weakness. He shared‌ that he was undergoing physical therapy and occupational therapy to‌ regain his strength.

On Thanksgiving, Roker shared photos on Instagram celebrating ⁣his ⁢release ⁣from⁣ the hospital after his health scare. However, he experienced a setback and was rushed back to‍ the hospital via ambulance on November⁢ 25. The “Today” show confirmed‍ his return to the hospital‌ due to complications.

Despite the challenges, Roker remains grateful‍ for each day and appreciates ⁤the support and well wishes he has‍ received from his fans and colleagues.
