Al Sharpton from MSNBC likens anti-Israel protests to January 6

Rev. Al Sharpton‍ of MSNBC recently compared anti-Israel protests on university campuses to ⁤the events at the U.S. Capitol on‍ January 6, during a segment on “Morning Joe” with hosts Joe ⁣Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski. This comparison sparked a discussion on the moral implications of such parallels. Rev. ⁤Al Sharpton of MSNBC⁢ drew ⁢a parallel between anti-Israel protests on college campuses ⁣and ‍the events‌ at the U.S. Capitol ‍on January 6. This comparison, made on “Morning Joe”‌ with hosts Joe Scarborough and⁣ Mika Brzezinski, ignited‍ a debate on the ethical significance of these‌ similarities.

On Thursday, Rev. Al Sharpton compared anti-Israel protests on university campuses to the U.S. Capitol breach on January 6, 2021, the latest MSNBC personality to do so this week.

The comment was made during a “Morning Joe” segment with the show’s co-hosts, Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski, while images of police moving in on an encampment at UCLA were shown on the screen.

“How do the Democrats, how do all of us on that side, say January 6th was wrong if you can have the same pictures going on on college campuses? You lose the moral high ground,” Sharpton said.

As he spoke, Brzezinski interjected, “Good Lord, don’t make a parallel to January 6th. For some reason that’s not allowed. Scarborough added, “That has happened, though.”

Just days ago, Brzezinski made a similar comparison during a conversation on the left-leaning cable news network about the protests taking place at colleges nationwide in response to the Israel-Hamas war.

“That’s the place we’ve all been sitting in, watching this, going, ‘What the hell is going on? What are these universities doing? Why aren’t they doing something?’ And I’ll echo the horror that this does look like January 6th. What a terrible example for our students,” she said on Tuesday.

Last week on Fox Business, anchor Maria Bartiromo mentioned January 6 while discussing the pro-Palestinian demonstrations that have spurred concerns about the safety of Jewish students at colleges such as Columbia University.

“These are barbaric. And yet, you don’t see the upset that you saw around January 6, you don’t see the upset that you saw in other situations like this,” Bartiromo said during an interview with Rep. Eric Burlison (R-MO).

Liberal comedian Bill Maher critiqued the anti-Israel demonstrations during a conversation with UFC president Dana White on his “Club Random” podcast, suggesting there are other issues in the Middle East more worthy of protests than “marching for Hamas.”

Maher also warned of the political implications, especially in a presidential election year, saying, “I keep trying to tell the Left this every week. Like — the more you do crazy sh**, the more you push the people in the middle to the Right.”
