Alec Baldwin’s Criminal Charges Driven By Legal Facts And His Own Public Arrogance

Movie star Baldwin allegedly shot and murdered his cinematographer. He then boasted in television interviews that he will not be charged criminally. Baldwin’s fall came on Thursday when the Santa Fe district attorney’s office announced he will be charged with two counts of involuntary manslaughter. He could be sentenced to a mandatory five-year term if he is convicted by a jury of the most serious felony.
“The fact that Baldwin went on an immediate public campaign to exonerate himself and went on ABC News and said he didn’t do anything wrong — that definitely factored into the prosecutor’s decision,” Dennis Postiglione from Austin is suing Baldwin on defamation and for other charges on behalf the family of a fallen Marine.
“Baldwin just killed someone he knew. And he did all of these interviews, didn’t cry, and thumbed his nose at the state — saying he would not be charged,” Postiglione said. “If that had been you or me, I think charges would have come a lot sooner.”
Postiglione stated that the movie star has the right to due process. He was also entitled to the presumption and innocence. “Baldwin is controversial and combative, but that doesn’t mean he’s automatically guilty.”
Baldwin’s lawyer Luke Nikas did not respond to a request for comment, but in a public statement said his client, “relied on the professionals with whom he worked, who assured him the gun did not have live rounds. We will fight these charges, and we will win.”
Baldwin will be charged as both an actor and producer for being aware of safety concerns regarding the low-budget film. Mary Carmack-Altwies, New Mexico First Judicial District Attorney, stated that Baldwin was being charged. “We are saying — here in New Mexico — that everyone is equal under the law,” She shared her story CNN On Thursday.
The Scene of the Crime
Baldwin was practicing a scene in a desert church on Oct. 21, 2021. Baldwin is said to have pulled a.45 Colt single action revolver from the holster, pulled the trigger, and pointed the gun at Hutchins. The bullet from the real ammunition went into Hutchins, came out her back, and lodged in Director Joel Souza’s shoulder. Baldwin then reportedly walked away from the church. The rest of his crew stayed behind Hutchins, and they spent 25 minutes trying desperately to save her.
