FBI focused on Mar-a-Lago, but had another Trump property in sight for raid.

All Eyes on Trump’s Properties: FBI Expands Investigation

Former President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate has been in the spotlight lately due to the Justice Department’s investigation into his alleged retention of classified documents. However, it seems that federal investigators have also turned their attention to Trump’s Bedminster golf club.

Following the FBI’s raid on Mar-a-Lago in August 2022, prosecutors have accused the former president of violating the Espionage Act by unlawfully keeping classified documents after leaving office.

The raid resulted in the recovery of one-hundred classified documents, according to the New York Times.

With suspicions that more documents might be found at Trump’s 520-acre Bedminster residence in New Jersey, investigators working for special counsel Jack Smith sought a warrant to search the property, as reported by the Times.

According to sources familiar with the investigation, the only way to confirm the presence of classified documents at Bedminster was through a thorough search of the property.

Unfortunately for the investigators, their lack of probable cause led a judge to deny their warrant request, as stated in the Times.

While this attempted raid on Bedminster makes headlines, the property has also become the center of attention due to an audio recording made at the estate in July 2021.

The recording was captured during a meeting involving a publisher, a writer working on the memoir of former White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows, and Trump staffers Margo Martin and Liz Harrington, as reported by the Times.

Based on the audio, it appears that Trump may have stored classified documents at Bedminster and potentially shared them with mar-a-lago-but-fbi-had-another-trump-property-it-was-eyeing-for-raid/” title=”FBI focused on Mar-a-Lago, but had another Trump property in sight for raid.”>individuals lacking proper clearance.

In the recording, Trump can be heard discussing a document outlining a plan of attack on Iran, which he claims was given to him by the Pentagon and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Mark Milley.

Trump denies reports suggesting his intention to carry out the attack and instead suggests that it was Milley who advocated for it.

According to the audio obtained by CNN, Trump can be heard shuffling through papers as he makes these remarks.

“Isn’t it amazing? I have a big pile of papers, this thing just came up. Look. This was him. They presented me this – this is off the record – but they presented me this. This was him. This was the Defense Department and him,” he says.

Later, he adds, “This totally wins my case, you know.”

Trump continues, “See, as president I could have declassified it. Now I can’t, you know, but this is still a secret.”

The recording was leaked to several news outlets, but it remains unclear who was responsible for the leak or if Trump actually showed anyone a classified document.

Currently, Trump is facing 37 felony charges, 31 of which are related to the alleged unlawful retention of classified documents.

According to sources cited by CBS News, none of the charges against Trump are specifically related to the document outlining plans to attack Iran, as mentioned in the recording.
