The country singer was impressed with her commitment and even picked the song “Go Rest High on That Mountain” for her performance in honor of her grandfather who passed away last year. Danielle sang the same song at his funeral, making the performance even more emotional.
As Bryan explained his choice, Danielle became emotional and started tearing up, trying not to break down crying on the show. Seacrest then handed the contestant a handkerchief. Idol judge Lionel Richie agreed that her performance was moving and said, “You have the amazing ability to touch. A lot of people can sing. But you have an amazing ability to touch.”
Katy Perry’s Comment
When it was judge Katy Perry’s turn to comment, she said she believed Danielle’s grandfather actually chose the song through Bryan. “I think he’s trying to tell you that you are exactly where you’re meant to be right now,” Perry said. “And you deserve this moment Megan. And it’s a wonderful confirmation and I don’t believe in any coincidences … so I just think that was heaven-sent.”
