Amusement park cancels Pride events after drag performance goes wrong.

An‍ amusement park in the‍ United Kingdom has made⁤ a ‍shocking decision. ⁢Adventure⁢ Island ⁣in Southend on Sea, ‍Essex, ⁤has ‌announced ⁤that ‌it will‍ no ⁣longer⁤ participate⁣ in Pride ⁤events. This comes⁢ after children witnessed an⁢ explicit⁣ drag performance by the drag queen named Crystal.

The owner of Adventure Island, Philip Miller,‍ has⁢ issued a‌ heartfelt apology to his⁢ loyal customers. ‌He expressed deep ‌regret ‍for hiring⁢ the performer who⁢ left ⁤parents⁢ “horrified.” The incident⁤ has caused significant distress, as reported by⁢ the ⁣Daily⁢ Mail.

In a⁣ statement,⁢ Miller acknowledged the confusion⁤ surrounding what⁣ the park would ⁣allow. ⁢He stated, “The grinding ‌act ⁤was most ‌definitely a nonstarter‌ as we are ostensibly⁢ a family park and ‌that is ⁤just not ‌family⁢ entertainment.”

Miller further⁢ added,⁣ “Rest ‍assured we will not be rebooking this ‍act ‌or participate in⁤ any future PRIDE ⁣celebrations. It’s just not‍ for⁣ us.‌ We ⁣tried ⁣to be inclusive, but‍ it has⁢ backfired⁤ on ⁣us.”

The controversy⁣ arose ⁣after footage⁤ of ⁢an “all ages family friendly” drag show surfaced online. ⁢The⁤ video shows Crystal, ‍a former contestant⁣ on ‌Ru ‍Paul’s ⁢Drag Race UK, ‌performing in ⁢revealing attire and ⁤using an angle ‍grinder.

Concerned parents have expressed ‌their disappointment⁣ and vowed not to return to Adventure Island. One mother-of-two stated, ”That‌ is a line ⁣you don’t ⁣cross. That‌ tells me everything‌ you⁢ need to‍ know ⁣about‍ how ⁢they⁣ value children.”

However, Crystal ⁣defended‌ his⁣ performance, arguing‌ that it was ⁣no‍ different from what‌ one ‌might‌ see on ⁤popular TV shows or from street performers. He emphasized ‌that the ⁢controversy ‌stemmed solely from his⁢ drag‍ persona.
