Amusement park cancels Pride events after drag performance goes wrong.
An amusement park in the United Kingdom has made a shocking decision. Adventure Island in Southend on Sea, Essex, has announced that it will no longer participate in Pride events. This comes after children witnessed an explicit drag performance by the drag queen named Crystal.
The owner of Adventure Island, Philip Miller, has issued a heartfelt apology to his loyal customers. He expressed deep regret for hiring the performer who left parents “horrified.” The incident has caused significant distress, as reported by the Daily Mail.
In a statement, Miller acknowledged the confusion surrounding what the park would allow. He stated, “The grinding act was most definitely a nonstarter as we are ostensibly a family park and that is just not family entertainment.”
Miller further added, “Rest assured we will not be rebooking this act or participate in any future PRIDE celebrations. It’s just not for us. We tried to be inclusive, but it has backfired on us.”
The controversy arose after footage of an “all ages family friendly” drag show surfaced online. The video shows Crystal, a former contestant on Ru Paul’s Drag Race UK, performing in revealing attire and using an angle grinder.

Concerned parents have expressed their disappointment and vowed not to return to Adventure Island. One mother-of-two stated, ”That is a line you don’t cross. That tells me everything you need to know about how they value children.”
However, Crystal defended his performance, arguing that it was no different from what one might see on popular TV shows or from street performers. He emphasized that the controversy stemmed solely from his drag persona.
