Love him or hate him, Tucker Carlson has made waves on both sides of the political spectrum during his time on the most-watched show in cable news. Recently, Carlson and Fox News parted ways after he challenged the establishment consensus on a variety of issues.

“Tucker’s approach to news and his ideological views created a richer diversity of opinion than all the different hosts at CNN or all the different hosts at MSNBC put together,” said Curtis Houck, managing editor of the conservative media watchdog Media Research Center blog, NewsBusters, in an interview with The Epoch Times.

Here are five issues on which Carlson broke from both Republicans and Democrats.

Russia–Ukraine

Carlson’s views on Russia and Ukraine have been controversial. He faced criticism for expressing support for Russia against Ukraine in 2019, which he later claimed was a joke. In February 2022, just days before the Russian invasion, Carlson defended Russian President Vladimir Putin on his show. He also denounced Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy following his speech before a joint session of Congress, calling it “humiliating” and questioning American aid to Ukraine.

But Carlson didn’t just criticize Democrats for supporting Ukraine. He also blasted Republicans for backing U.S. assistance to Ukraine, calling for primary challenges against several GOP senators.

Iraq War

Carlson has been vocal about his regret for supporting the 2003 Iraq War. He blamed the left for its interventionism, including in Iraq, and criticized the Republican foreign policy establishment that supported the war.

Big Tech

Carlson has been a vocal critic of Big Tech, accusing Democrats of colluding with tech giants to rig the 2020 presidential election in Biden’s favor. He has called for greater regulation of these companies and has warned of their growing power and influence.
