ANALYSIS: These Are The Most Preposterous Abuses Of Power In The COVID-19 Era
White House press secretary Jen Psaki said in early August that the U.S. would not go back to the lockdowns of 2020, but stopped short of completely ruling out some sort of shutdown. But with a looming possibility of government overreach, here are some examples of when the government abused their power and implemented stringent lockdown restrictions.
Democratic Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer is perhaps the poster child for COVID-19 abuse of power in the U.S. Whitmer deemed several home-improvement and gardening items such as fruit and vegetable seeds “non-essential.” In doing so, her order gave explicit instructions to stores greater than 50,000 square feet to cordon off certain areas of the store and not sell certain items, including the aforementioned.
