The Heir of Anheuser-Busch Speaks Out Against Controversial Marketing
The heir of Anheuser-Busch, Billy Busch, recently expressed his disapproval of the company’s recent marketing strategies. In an engaging interview with TMZ’s Harvey Levin, Busch discussed Bud Light’s brief campaign with transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney, sparking a lively debate.
“I think my family — my ancestors would have rolled over in their graves,” Busch responded when asked about the fallout from the company’s involvement with Mulvaney. “They believed that transgender individuals, as well as the LGBTQ+ community, should be respected as personal matters. While they loved the freedom of this country, they never intended for it to be used as a marketing tool.”
Busch expressed his disappointment in the company’s shift from being “one of the greatest marketers ever in any business” to anheuser-busch-heir-claims-founders-rolled-over-in-their-graves-at-mulvaney-ad/” title=”Anheuser-Busch heir says founders were appalled by Mulvaney ad.”>employing controversial tactics. Levin countered by mentioning the company’s previous sponsorship of pride events without much backlash, suggesting that the negative response may stem from prejudice against transgender individuals.
“I just don’t think the audience that drinks beer is into transgenders,” Busch stated. “People who drink beer care about wholesome things.”
A recent report from Anheuser-Busch revealed a 10% decrease in revenue in the United States, resulting in a loss of $400 million. Additionally, sales in U.S. retailers dropped by 14% compared to the previous year. As a result, the company announced that it will be laying off close to 2% of its domestic workforce, affecting several hundred employees.
