‘Any First-Year Student Could Win This Case’: Dershowitz Says Move Trump’s Trial To Staten Island, Upstate New York
Alan Dershowitz, who represented former President Donald Trump in his first impeachment trial, has suggested that Trump cannot get a fair trial in Manhattan and that his attorneys should move the trial to Staten Island or Upstate New York. This comes after Trump was hit with a felony indictment on Thursday linked to alleged hush money payments to Stormy Daniels in 2016. Dershowitz believes any first-year student could win the case if it didn’t involve Trump and wasn’t being held in Manhattan. However, he fears that jurors and judges wouldn’t want to let Trump off, and therefore suggests moving the trial to another venue.
Meanwhile, Fox News legal analyst Gregg Jarrett has branded the indictment as a “totally bizarre, convoluted theory”, arguing that non-disclosure agreements in exchange for money are legal and that the Federal Election Commission has already ruled that it is not a crime. Jarrett predicted that Trump’s lawyers will file a motion to dismiss the indictment immediately.
