AOC argues against TikTok ban in video on the controversial app
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) created her own TikTok account in an effort to speak out against the bipartisan effort to ban the social media platform in the United States.
Congress is debating whether the U.S. may completely outlaw TikTok because of its ties to China when the congresswoman makes her case. In her video, Ocasio-Cortez argued that the U.S. ‘ s ban on social media apps does not address” the core of the problem ,” which is that they are permitted to gather user data without any” significant regulation whatsoever.”

According to Ocasio-Cortez,” The United States is one of the primary developed countries in the world that has no vital data or private protection laws on the books.”
According to Ocasio-Cortez, protecting Americans from” this kind of egregious data harvesting” by businesses is the right course of action rather than” banning an individual company.”
TikTok has already been outlawed across all public products in a number of states, with Gov. The first to do so was South Dakota’s Kris Noem( R ). According to Yahoo Finance, many states have done the same, including Virginia, Texas, and Ohio.
The TikTok video from Ocasio-Cortez was released just days before the social media app was outlawed on all federal instruments on March 29. On February 27, the White House gave all national authorities in the United States 30 days to remove TikTok from all government-issued handheld devices, according to Associated Press.
