During Wednesday’s impeachment hearing, tension flared between former Biden associate, Tony Bobulinski, and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC). AOC, starting her questioning, asked Bobulinski a direct question within her allocated five minutes.
“It is simple, you name the crime,” Ocasio-Cortez shot back. “Did you watch him steal something?” she added.
Bobulinski listed “corruption statutes, RICO and conspiracy, FARA …” before stopping as Ocasio-Cortez tried to interject by demanding that he offer “specific” crimes.
Understanding RICO, Crime, and Legislation
RICO laws against racketeering, once used primarily against organized crime, have gained renewed attention. Bobulinski clarified, “It’s a category of crimes that you’re then charged under,” indicating a broad scope.
Still, Ocasio-Cortez persisted, pushing for specific details. Bobulinski, facing interruptions, highlighted the complexity and legal nuances involved.
He was again interrupted by Ocasio-Cortez, who repeatedly exclaimed, “I reclaim my time!” while pointing an index finger into the air.
