AOC upset as ‘Squad’ pals denied entry to Israel.
If You Turned on the TV, You’d Think AOC’s Show Was a Scripted Reality Show
If you happened to catch Democratic New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez on MSNBC’s “Mehdi Hasan Show” on Monday, you might have thought you were watching a highly scripted reality show on TLC instead. The conversation was filled with fake outrage and double-sided talk, all centered around the alleged “congressional indifference to Palestinian life in Gaza.” Hasan, a British-American Muslim, made the claim that this indifference was due to the fact that Palestinians are Arabs or mostly Muslims and don’t look like the majority in Congress.

During the conversation, Ocasio-Cortez criticized the entire House of Representatives for ignoring and sidelining Palestinians, while also patting herself on the back for raising awareness about the human rights violations against the Palestinian people. She then shifted her focus to attacking Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, expressing shock and alarm over his decision to ban two sitting members of Congress, Rashida Tlaib and Ilhan Omar, from visiting Israel.

Ocasio-Cortez’s criticism of Netanyahu’s decision to ban Tlaib and Omar from visiting Israel conveniently ignores the fact that these two congresswomen have shown a blatant anti-Israel stance. Tlaib even spread lies about Israel bombing a hospital, despite President Joe Biden confirming that the strike did not come from the Israeli side. Omar also made false claims about the bombing. While she later backtracked, the damage was already done. Both congresswomen continue to denounce Israel’s actions against Hamas and refuse to condemn the terrorist group.
Israel has every right to ban individuals who openly support the anti-Israel BDS movement. The United States has also banned leaders of adversarial nations from visiting our country. So why shouldn’t Israel ban two freshmen congresswomen who have shown themselves to be hostile towards Israel? It’s time for AOC, the rest of the squad, and their MSNBC spokesmen to realize that the world doesn’t revolve around them and that Israel has bigger issues to deal with.

What impact does the frequent portrayal of fake outrage in political media have on public perception and engagement
The frequent portrayal of fake outrage in political media can have several impacts on public perception and engagement:
1. Desensitization: The constant exposure to fake outrage can lead to desensitization among the public, causing them to dismiss genuine concerns or important issues as just another instance of overblown outrage.
2. Cynicism: The widespread use of fake outrage can foster a sense of cynicism among the public. They may become distrustful of politicians, media outlets, and the political process as a whole, perceiving everything as calculated acts rather than genuine expressions.
3. Manipulation: Fake outrage can be used as a manipulative tool to divert attention from real issues or controversies. Politicians or media outlets may exploit public emotions for their own benefit, creating distractions and steering the public discourse away from substantive debates.
4. Engagement fatigue: Continuous exposure to fake outrage can lead to engagement fatigue where the public becomes disinterested or disengaged from political discussions. They may become less inclined to participate in debates, vote, or take any action, perceiving it as futile or insincere.
5. Polarization: The portrayal of fake outrage can deepen existing divisions within society. People may align themselves with the side expressing outrage that aligns with their existing beliefs, reinforcing tribalism and hindering meaningful dialogue or compromise.
6. Decreased trust in media: The prevalence of fake outrage can contribute to a decline in trust towards media outlets. When the media is viewed as complicit in perpetuating phony outrage, the public may question the credibility and objectivity of the information presented, leading to decreased engagement with news sources.
Overall, the portrayal of fake outrage in political media can distort public perception, reduce genuine engagement, and erode trust in both politicians and media outlets. It is important for individuals to critically evaluate information and look beyond the sensationalism to maintain an informed and engaged citizenry.
