Far-left Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez ‌expressed her ⁣outrage on Monday over the⁣ White House’s ⁤decision to stop⁣ funding a United⁢ Nations agency whose employees took part in the terrorist attack against⁢ Israel on October 7th ⁤ by ‍Hamas.

“Cutting off support to @UNRWA – the primary source of humanitarian aid to 2 million+⁣ Gazans – is unacceptable,” said Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) who⁢ reps parts ⁤of the Bronx and‍ Queens, posted on X in response‍ to the Biden administration’s Friday ‌move against the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA).

“Among an ‌organization of 13,000 UN aid workers, risking the starvation of millions⁢ over‍ grave‌ allegations of 12 is indefensible,” ‌she added. “The ⁤US should restore aid‌ immediately.”

John Kirby, ⁣a spokesperson for the National Security Council, stated on ‌ NBC’s “Today” program that “UNRWA does important work across the region, certainly in Gaza.”

“They have helped save thousands of⁣ lives, and we shouldn’t impugn the good⁣ work of a‌ whole agency because of the terrible, just terrible ‌allegations lobbied against just a small number of their employees,” Kirby ‍continued.

Around the same time that ‍Kirby and Ocasio-Cortez‌ made their statements,⁢ the Wall Street ⁢Journal revealed that Israeli intelligence ‌discovered that at ⁤least 12 UNRWA employees actively⁤ participated⁣ in the Hamas attack, which claimed an estimated 1,200 lives, at ⁢the least. Additionally, Mossad, ‍Israel’s Institute for⁤ Intelligence and Special Operations, revealed ⁢that approximately ‍10% of ‍the‌ organization’s employees had ties to ‍either the Palestinian Islamic Jihad ⁤or Hamas, ⁢and that half‌ of the 12,000 ⁤employees had close relatives who were members of either terrorist organization.

Six of the individuals engaged in the Oct. 7th attack are said to⁣ have participated⁣ in the actual assault, while the remaining individuals oversaw logistics, including obtaining ‍weapons. Two ⁤participated in the kidnapping of Israelis, while two more were traced‍ to locations of the slaughter of civilians.

When he took over presidential office in early 2021, President Joe Biden‍ reinstated financing‍ for UNRWA, which‌ had been stopped by ⁤the previous administration of former President Donald Trump in 2018.

Since then, the U.S. ⁤has given the organization at least⁤ $730 million, despite proof that it hires instructors ‌who incite anti-Israel sentiment.

The Israeli intelligence dossier states that seven of the twelve⁤ UNRWA personnel engaged in the attack were teachers in elementary or secondary education.

“Respectfully Congresswoman, it’s ⁤way more‍ than ⁢’12.’ Read the reporting today in the WSJ & the NYT. Support for Hamas is pervasive ‌throughout ⁤the @UNRWA. And has⁣ been for years. The organization needs to‍ be disbanded,” said former ⁣US‌ Rep. Joe Walsh (R-Ill.).

What are Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s reasons for criticizing the ‌White House’s ‌decision to cut funding to the‍ United Nations Relief and Works ‍Agency (UNRWA)?

Ocasio-Cortez⁣ Slams White ⁣House for Cutting Funding to UN Agency ⁣Involved in Terrorist Attack

In a ‍recent ⁤development,‍ Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, a prominent figure in the far-left political spectrum, has expressed her outrage over ‌the decision of ‍the White House to ‌stop funding a United Nations ‌agency that has been⁤ linked to a ⁢terrorist⁢ attack against Israel in October 2023, orchestrated by Hamas.

Ocasio-Cortez took to Twitter to voice her disapproval, stating that cutting off support to the United Nations Relief ⁣and‍ Works Agency (UNRWA) is unacceptable.⁣ UNRWA is⁣ the primary source of⁤ humanitarian aid to over 2 million Gazans. The‍ congresswoman, who represents parts of the Bronx and Queens, argued‌ that ⁣the actions of a⁤ few employees should not jeopardize ⁢the vital work of the entire‍ agency, which employs around⁣ 13,000 aid workers.

John Kirby, a spokesperson for ⁤the National ‍Security ⁢Council, emphasized the ‌importance ⁢of UNRWA’s work in the region, particularly in Gaza, where ⁣they have helped save thousands of lives. ‌He insisted⁤ that the ⁤allegations against a small number of employees should not overshadow the agency’s overall contributions.

However, Israeli intelligence has revealed that at least⁤ 12 UNRWA employees actively participated ‍in the Hamas attack, which resulted in the loss ⁤of approximately 1,200 lives. Mossad, Israel’s Institute‍ for Intelligence and Special Operations, further disclosed⁣ that around‍ 10% of UNRWA’s employees had ties to either the Palestinian Islamic Jihad or Hamas, and that half of the organization’s staff had close relatives ⁣who⁢ were‍ members of these terrorist ⁤organizations.

According to the intelligence dossier, six individuals engaged in the⁢ attack⁢ were directly ⁣involved in‌ the assault, while others played logistical roles in obtaining weapons. Two individuals were implicated in the kidnapping ⁣of‌ Israelis,⁣ and⁤ two more were traced ‌to locations where‍ civilians were slaughtered.

It is worth noting that President Joe Biden ‍reinstated funding for UNRWA when⁣ he took office in 2021, after the previous administration, led by ⁤Donald Trump, had ceased ⁤funding ⁣in 2018. Since then, the U.S. has provided at least $730 million to the organization, despite evidence of UNRWA ⁣hiring instructors who promote‍ anti-Israel sentiment.

The intelligence report states that seven of the twelve UNRWA‍ personnel⁤ involved ⁣in the attack were teachers in elementary or secondary‍ education. This ⁤raises concerns about the indoctrination of students and the perpetuation of violence within ⁤the educational system.

The ⁣decision to ‌cut funding ⁣to UNRWA is ‍a contentious‍ issue. While some argue that the agency plays a crucial role in providing humanitarian aid, ⁤others ‍believe that supporting an organization with alleged ⁣links to terrorism goes against⁢ the principles of accountability and‌ counterterrorism.

As this debate unfolds, it is crucial for ⁣policymakers⁣ to⁤ carefully evaluate the evidence and consider the long-term ⁢implications of their financial decisions. Striking a balance between providing aid to those⁣ in need and ⁤safeguarding against the⁤ misuse ‌of funds is essential to ‍ensure‍ the effectiveness and credibility of international humanitarian efforts.
